Based on the generic term 'sculpture', the exhibition IM RAUM (SPATIAL) combines sculptural works and objects by eight artists who use varying forms of expression in their oeuvres. This multi-faceted artistic concept is reflected in their works too, as in Valentina Stieger's Regal and Christine & Irene Hohenbüchler's Paravent, which present themselves as objects with strong pictorial aspects. The assemblage Creep by Gerda Steiner & Jörg Lenzlinger as well as Roman Signer's Turbine represent relics of an action respectively a site-specific installation of the artists. In the exhibition they assert themselves as artworks with past lives.

Besides the artistic reproduction and relocation of everyday life objects, as in the case of Signer's Regenschirme or Erik Steinbrecher's Haken, the exhibits are also media of various levels of meaning. Zilla Leutenegger's 9/11 Jeans, for instance, is an autobiographical testimonial of September 11, 2001. Cast in concrete, it's placed in SPATIAL dialogue with Guido Nussbaum's anti-war piece Das serbische Dorf from 1993 as well as his work Ei - a surrealistic, oversize sculpture that seems to point to the origin of all life.
