Martina Gmür works in an intelligent way with paint and brushes, using the potential of the materials and techniques to create situations and formats that haven't been seen yet. She constantly crosses traditional lines between the artistic genres, using silhouette, collage, assemblage, sculpture and installation. In so doing she turns her involvement with basic issues of painting into painterly action. Gmür's work shows how painting, that pulls the rug from under its own feet, gains new relevance.
